Meet the Team

Matthew Southgate

Chief Technology Office

Matthew is 39D’s CTO and cyber security lead, responsible for keeping our clients’ systems secure, resilient and running smoothly.

He oversees IT for more than 45 businesses and over 3,000 devices, planning upgrades, managing risk and making sure everything “just works” day to day.

With a background spanning disaster recovery, cyber security and infrastructure design, Matthew has led IT operations in demanding environments – including business continuity planning at VISA during the millennium bug, and building networks for solar and wind farms across the UK.

Away from the desk, Matthew is a keen sailor, qualified as a Yachtmaster Offshore and RYA instructor, and has completed long-distance offshore races including a 1,200-mile passage from the UK to the Mediterranean. He’s also active in the local business community through Epping Rotary Club and the Epping Forest Chamber of Commerce, helping to support and celebrate small businesses.
